La premisa detrás
de esta serie de pinturas al temple es el conjunto de imágenes impreso sobre los cartones de la lotería tradicional mexicana. El cartón original del juego es el soporte sobre lo cual Alec Dempster ha usado una emulsión de yema, barniz damar, y aceite de linaza mezclada con finos pigmentos orgánicos y químicos. El cuadriculado subyacente ha sido disfrazado con numerosas capas de color y su propia interpretación de la simbología conocida. El resultado es una serie de íntimas y barrocas improvisaciones. |
The premise behind
this series of egg tempera paintings is the imagery of the traditional mexican lotería game. The original cardboard game surface is the support which has been painted over in each painting with an emusion of egg yolk, damar varnish and linseed oil mixed together with fine chemical and organic pigments. The underlying grid has been disguised by numerous layers of colour and Alec Dempster’s own interpretation of the familiar symbolism. The result is a series of intimate and baroque improvisations. |
